– Our desire is to preserve material evidence important for the emergence and development of aviation in our region – Mali pointed out.
New facilities, multipurpose hangars, will also be built within the museum complex, which are designed to blend unobtrusively into the natural terrain, respecting the dominant position of the museum building.
He assures that the works on the Aviation Museum will be completed before the start of the specialized exhibition EXPO 2027.

– Our goal is to significantly improve the cultural scene of Belgrade and Serbia, and we believe that the new museums we are planning in the coming period will significantly contribute to this – Mali emphasized.
The Aviation Museum is located in the immediate vicinity of the Belgrade Airport. It was founded in 1957, and in 1989 it got its final, current location.

When it comes to Serbia’s aviation heritage, not all the news is so great. Let us remind that last week it was announced that the first Boeing 737-300 aircraft delivered to JAT during the summer of 1985, and the first aircraft of that type used in passenger traffic in Europe, had been destroyed at the Belgrade Airport. Registered as YU-AND, the aircraft made its first commercial flight in August 1985 on the Belgrade-Istanbul-Amman route. The aircraft later served Air Serbia through its Aviolet tourism brand, although it also frequently operated scheduled routes for the Serbian carrier.
