On Monday, technical talks began between government representatives, employers and unions on increasing the minimum wage from next year.

Before that increase, there will be an extraordinary increase in the minimum wage from October 1 this year by 9.4%, which will increase it to 337 dinars per working hour, Finance Minister Sinisa Mali said on his social media accounts.

– This means that in October, taking into account the higher number of working hours, the monthly minimum wage will be EUR 529 (62,008 dinars), while the average minimum wage in the fourth quarter of 2025 will be EUR 506. So, for the first time, we are exceeding the figure of EUR 500 when it comes to the minimum wage – Mali pointed out.

When it comes to the next year, as he specified, the government’s proposal is that from January 1, 2026, the minimum wage will increase by an additional 10.1%, bringing the average minimum wage to 64,554 dinars, or 371 dinars per working hour, which is about EUR 551 on average per month.

– Such a phase-based increase ensures predictability and planning for the economy, while at the same time protecting the purchasing power of citizens. A cumulative increase of 37% (13.7% since the beginning of the year, 9.4% and 10.1%) of the minimum wage per working hour leads to a real increase in the minimum wage of 27.2% in this two-year period – he pointed out.
