Minister of Finance Sinisa Mali announced that a new regulation was being prepared that would limit trade margins to a maximum of 20%, in order to reduce the prices of basic foodstuffs and protect the standards of citizens.
As he stated, a meeting was held at the Serbian Chamber of Commerce with representatives of large retail chains, at which a dialogue was established on the upcoming measures.
– Margins in trade must be limited, so that the state can put a stop to price increases. According to the draft regulation, margins in the largest retail chains will be limited to a maximum of 20 percent, which will ensure lower product prices for citizens – Mali stated.
He added that work was also underway to amend the laws regulating trade, in order to create a sustainable framework for price stability and consumer safety.
The new package of economic measures, which President Aleksandar Vucic will present on Sunday, will include, in addition to margin restrictions, measures for more favorable loans and lower interest rates, as he stated.
