Bajatovic: New agreement with Russia negotiated, signing not to take place before September 20 however

The new gas agreement with Russia has been negotiated, but it will not be signed before September 20 however, pointed out the general manager of Srbijagas, Dusan Bajatovic.

– In essence, we have negotiated an agreement with Russia, but it will not be signed before September 20, because, at the moment, we don’t know what Azerbaijan can give us either. There is no gas in Azerbaijan – Bajatovic explained in a conversation with TV Prva.

As he pointed out, the postponement of the sanctions on Naftna industrija Srbije (NIS) is good news.

– We have had good information from the OFAC and from the lawyers, at least when it comes to us who are in business – added Bajatovic.

He emphasized that NIS could survive, because it had 60% of the retail and an 80% share in the wholesale.

– Serbia has to have an oil industry which processes oil and which produces suitable derivatives – he believes.
