The Ministry of Mining and Energy expects to finalize an agreement with the South Korean state-owned company Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP) regarding the exchange of knowledge and experience in the field of nuclear energy and hydrogen, because Serbia sees nuclear energy as one of the key solutions for a safe, stable and low-carbon energy future, said Rados Popadic, assistant to the Minister of Mining and Energy for Power Engineering.

- Hydrogen is the energy of the future, the use of which is foreseen in our strategic documents, and it is important that we exchange knowledge about the application of this technology - said Popadic, who was on a working visit to the largest nuclear power plant complex in the world, located in the city of Ulsan and is owned by KHNP, according to the ministry's announcement.

As part of his tour, Popadic visited the facilities and got acquainted with technological and safety standards in the field of nuclear energy, and future cooperation was also discussed.

He stated that Korean companies have proven results in the construction of nuclear facilities outside the borders of their country, such as the nuclear power plant in the United Arab Emirates.

Popadic also met with the general manager of the sector for international projects of small modular reactors (SMR), Jung Soonkil, with whom he discussed concrete steps towards establishing cooperation and signing a cooperation agreement.
