AI-based digital assistant now available to citizens on eUprava

The Office for Information Technologies and Electronic Government announced that it has implemented a digital assistant based on artificial intelligence on the eUprava Portal.

- We have implemented a smart digital assistant that uses artificial intelligence and enables citizens to get information about the contents and services available on the eUprava Portal in a simple way, using everyday language. Currently, the digital assistant provides basic information and directs the user to the service itself, which makes it much easier to find and start the desired service on the eUprava Portal - said the director of the Office for IT and eUprava, Mihailo Jovanovic.

He stated that for now the digital assistant uses the language model of the company OpenAI, but the eUprava software is flexible and can use any language model for training the assistant.

Jovanovic said that in the second phase of the development of the digital AI assistant, the plan is to go one step further and to switch from the current informative to a transactional AI assistant, which will perform specific actions for users on the Portal — such as scheduling appointments for documents, filling out electronic forms, automating various processes and other activities that will speed up and facilitate the use of electronic services for citizens.

- The goal of the Office is to provide citizens with not only easier access to information, but also simpler use of electronic administration services through the development of such tools. It is especially significant that it is a universal solution, independent of other language models, which enables greater security, control and data protection - Jovanovic stressed, adding that in April of this year, the Office signed a contract with the company BullSAS (part of the Eviden Group) for the purchase of a new supercomputer on which all future AI applications will be trained and hosted.

This upgrade, which is implemented in accordance with the "Leap into the Future - Serbia 2027" Program and plans for further modernization, digitization and application of artificial intelligence, is based on 640 nVidia superchips (GraceHopper) distributed in 160 computer nodes, a large data storage space of 2.5PB, new software for end users (JarviceAI), the possibility of using the MistralAI large language model, as well as the most modern network technology (NDR).
