First meeting for planning international participation in EXPO to take place next week

The first International Planning Meeting (IPM) for the specialized exhibition Expo 2027 will be held in Belgrade on June 10 and 11, bringing together delegations from more than 140 countries from all continents.

With more than 350 officials, including ministers, state secretaries, directors of key national institutions, as well as ambassadors of those countries, the IPM represents one of the largest international and diplomatic gatherings ever held in Serbia, according to a statement from the Serbian Government.

The director of the company Expo 2027 d.o.o. Belgrade, Dusan Borovcanin, said that Serbia, thanks to hosting Expo 2027, has been given the opportunity to organize the largest international gathering of state delegations to date.

This meeting will bring together representatives who lead key policies in their countries in the areas of foreign trade, economic development, sports, tourism, culture, innovation, education and youth, as well as representatives of international organizations such as the United Nations and FIBA.

The meeting is an opportunity for delegations to learn in detail about the theme and concept of Expo 2027, the master plan, construction phases, logistics and operations, as well as digital platforms for participants.

So far, 112 countries have confirmed their participation in Expo 2027, and this response has contributed to Belgrade becoming the fastest-filled Expo in history, Borovcanin said.

The specialized exhibition Expo 2027 Belgrade will be held from May 15 to August 15, 2027, and will last a total of 93 days.

It will be the first international exhibition in the Western Balkans and the largest global event that Serbia has ever organized.
