Turkish Consular Office opened in Nis

The Consular Office of the Republic of Turkey in Nis has been opened in the Beverly Hills neighborhood of Pantelej. The Consulate is located at 16 Branka Copica Street, and the First Consul Attila Kucuktalasi emphasizes that this office will benefit both Serbian and Turkish citizens who pass through our country.

Consul Kucuktalasi emphasized that 52 Turkish companies operate in the southern part of Serbia, and that he will try to increase that number. Also, this consulate will be useful to a large number of Turks who pass through this part of Serbia from Europe to their homeland.

– Many of our citizens pass through the road that connects Turkey and Europe when they go to Turkey. Every year, about two million citizens pass through. They always have some problems - traffic accidents, there are many who lose their passports or personal documents. There was a void here while we were not there, they had to go to Novi Pazar to the Consulate General or to Belgrade to the Turkish Embassy. We are helpful to them, as well as to investors who invest here – said Consul Kucuktalasi.

He emphasized that he will also be there for Serbs who want to invest in Turkey and noted that all consular affairs can be completed at that place, even though it is a consular office.



At the opening, Nis Mayor Dragoslav Pavlovic emphasized that this is an indicator of the two countries connecting and getting closer.

– We have always had good friendly relations in previous years with the Republic of Turkey. We are building economic relations, many Turkish investors are already present here and they employ a good number of our fellow citizens. We are also trying to preserve the cultural heritage and leave a mark of good cooperation in the coming years – said Pavlovic.

The opening of the Consular Office was also attended by the Turkish Ambassador to Serbia, Ilhan Saygili. He emphasized that the economic relations between the two countries have never been better.

– We are in the golden age of relations between Turkey and Serbia. Economic relations are on the rise, last year the trade exchange was more than three billion euros. In the first three months we have an increase of 125% – said the Turkish ambassador.

This consular office is the third Turkish mission in Serbia, after the Consulate General in Novi Pazar, to which the Nis office is attached, and the embassy.
