Floating hotels arriving to Belgrade – Cruiser pier for EXPO to be built from Usce to Branko’s Bridge, first works to start

The job of the repair of the revetment and the establishment of an embankment in the zone of the left bank of the river Sava in Belgrade, from Usce upstream, in the length of 2.5 kilometers, for the needs of the construction of an international passenger terminal as accompanying infrastructure for EXPO 2027, has been awarded to the company Regulacije from Sremska Mitrovica. The value of the agreement is RSD 323.3 million, that is, EUR 2.7 million.

The bid the company made was the only one sent in response to the tender opened by the Public Water Management Enterprise Srbijavode at the beginning of April. The work completion deadline will be 10 months.

According to the tendering documentation, the boat-hotels on the water will be set up between the confluence of the Sava into the Danube and Branko’s Bridge.

As the minister of finance, Sinisa Mali, announced earlier, near the Museum of Contemporary Art in Belgrade, a new pier for big cruise ships, which would serve as accommodation capacities during the specialized exhibition Expo, would be built. He also said that the state would rent cruise ships which would be part of additional accommodation capacities.

– As a state, we will rent up to 10 cruise ships and they will also be part of additional accommodation capacities. Dubai has done so, other countries have done so, because it is cheaper for cruise ships to serve as accommodation units, people occupy that room, stay for a few days, rather than having a hotel built – said Mali.

As he said, the cruise ships will secure an additional 1,800 beds.

Let us remind that it was announced earlier that Belgrade would also get “boat-hotels” for EXPO, and as said at the time, two locations on the Sava and one of the Danube were being considered.
