Golubac to get exclusive Aquamarine hotel with private swimming pool on the Danube – Beginning of construction planned for May, opening for 2027 (PHOTO)

The construction of the new luxury hotel Aquamarine Hotel Golubac should start in May this year, Vladimir Adzic, general director of the company HTP Plaza, which plans to invest EUR 5.4 million in the construction, told eKapija. Currently, the selection of designers for the development of the main and executive projects based on the conceptual solution is in progress, after which a request for a building permit will be submitted.

– The original plan was to open the hotel for the 2026 season, but due to delays in the development of projects, it is realistic that the official opening will be in March 2027 – says Adzic.

The hotel will have 96 accommodation units with 216 beds, a spa and wellness center of almost 400 m2, indoor swimming pools for children and adults, buffet and a la carte restaurants with a capacity of 290 people, as well as a congress center for 220 guests.

A special attraction will be a private swimming pool on the Danube, which will make this hotel complex unique in Serbia.

– As for the difference compared to our Aquastar Danube 4* hotel in Kladovo, of course the new hotel will be more modern and have a larger capacity, however the very idea of building a hotel in Golubac is to fully encompass tourism in the most beautiful part of Serbia, offer great experiences on both sides of the UNESCO Geopark Djerdap and be the starting point for our guests to explore the incredible natural beauty of Djerdap – Adzic points out.

The value of the investment is around EUR 5.4 million, financed from own funds and loans. According to Adzic, state support through subsidies is expected, considering the importance of the project for the development of tourism and economy in the municipality of Golubac.

– The main problem of tourism on the Danube is the lack of quality accommodation facilities. On the section from Belgrade to the mouth of the Timok, the only luxury hotel is our Aquastar Danube 4* in Kladovo, while our ship Aquastar Maxim cruises on the same route. We are currently finishing the second ship, Aquastar Nala, which will also sail on this route – says Adzic.

In addition to attracting tens of thousands of foreign and domestic tourists, Aquamarine Hotel will employ between 60 and 70 workers and cooperate with local and regional suppliers.

- We are planning further investments, and the next step will be the construction of a catamaran with a capacity of over 200 people. But let’s finish the hotel first, start work and then continue – concludes Adzic.
