The first container of Serbian products for China was sent to this country, in accordance with the Free Trade Agreement between the two countries, announced the Government of Serbia.

The container, which went to the province of Fujian and the city of Xiamen, as stated in the announcement, contains products from the companies Pionir, Akov, Fruskogorski vinogradi, Vinarija Aleksic, Nutrino, Nas med, Zaric brandy, Budimka and Damar. The transport of Serbian products was organized by the Milsped company from Krnjesevac near Stara Pazova, the government adds in its statement.

Minister of Economy Adrijana Mesarovic, who attended the shipment of the first container to China, pointed out that it was the result of the hard work of Serbian businessmen, institutions and Chinese partners. She pointed out that, in the conversation with representatives of dozens of retail chains, importers and distributors from China, she had been clearly presented with the message that Serbian products were welcome in that country.

The minister emphasized that the Chinese market had more than one billion and 400 million consumers, reminding that the beginning of the export of Serbian products had been made possible by the Free Trade Agreement with China, thanks to which Serbian products were price-competitive.

China’s Ambassador to Serbia Li Ming expressed satisfaction that Serbian products had the opportunity to enter the Chinese market and stated that Serbia had officially become China’s first free trade partner in Central and Eastern Europe thanks to the Free Trade Agreement, which had entered into force on July 1, 2024.

He specified that Serbia’s exports to China had increased by 53.7% and that there were more and more Serbian wines and dairy products on Chinese tables.

The free trade agreement covers 10,412 Serbian products and 8,930 Chinese ones. On the first day of application, 60% of products were exempted from customs duty, while in the next five to ten years, another 30% of goods will be exempted.
