China becomes biggest foreign trade partner of Serbia by imports for first time in December

China has become the biggest individual foreign trade partner of Serbia when it comes to imports, which amounted to EUR 5.13 billion last year, announced the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia.

Serbia and China signed the Free Trade Agreement in October 2023, and it came into effect on July 1, 2024.

Until December last year, Germany held the top position by the import of goods to Serbia, and now it is second, with imports worth EUR 5.11 billion.

Looking by the export of goods from Serbia, Germany has kept the top position, and last year’s exports amounted to EUR 4.51 billion.

In 2024, goods worth EUR 1.9 billion were exported to China from Serbia, so China has become the country with which Serbia has the biggest external trade deficit. China is third when it comes to the export of goods from Serbia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina is second, whereas the fourth and fifth positions are held by Italy and Romania respectively.

Regarding the import of goods in Serbia, Italy is third, followed by Turkey and Hungary.
