Fortis Energy has announced that it has received preliminary permits for three 509.4 MW wind projects in Serbia.

- EMS (Elektromreza Srbije) has issued an official statement regarding the connection to the power grid of the 171 MW Fortis Vranje wind farm and 194.4 MW Gornjak wind farm projects. Also, the preliminary permit process for the 144 MW Juhor wind farm project is underway - the Turkish company announced.

With a capacity of 509.4 MW, the wind farms will generate 1.5 billion kWh of renewable energy, which is equivalent to the annual consumption of 750,000 households and will prevent the emission of 350,000 tons of CO2 per year, according to the statement.

According to the statement, the wind measurements for wind farm locations and a preliminary assessment of wind resources are currently underway.

Fortis points out that these projects involve an investment of EUR 550 million and support a comprehensive value chain in various sectors, including civil engineering, electrical engineering, logistics, maintenance, security and telecommunications.

We remind our readers that the Turkish company announced in late July that it had purchased a 180 MW solar project with a battery energy storage system (BESS) in Sremska Mitrovica.

As they stated, they expect it to be one of the largest solar power plants and energy storage systems in Southeast Europe. Fortis plans to install a BESS with a capacity of 36 MWh, and the plan is for the construction of the solar complex to begin in 2025.

As previously announced, the mentioned three wind farms, in Jagodina, Petrovac and Vranje, are expected to be completed by 2026.

In May, Fortis announced that it was in final stages of the acquisition of two biogas power plants in Pancevo.
