The resident representative of the IMF in Serbia, Sebastian Sosa, told Tanjug that the new advisory arrangement with Serbia should be approved and signed in the second half of June.

– We expect for the new Policy Coordination Instrument (PCI) to be considered and approved by the executive board of the IMF in the second half of June – Sosa said at the Kopaonik Business Forum.

Sosa specified that the board meeting was scheduled for June 18, as well as that it would be held at the request of Serbia (Article IV Consultation and the Request of a new Policy Coordination Instrument).

He says that the main objective of the new advisory arrangement with Serbia, following the one that expired in January 2021, was to further support the macroeconomic policy of Serbia and its recovery after the pandemic.

Also, the arrangement should ensure structural institutional reforms required for an increased, greener and more sustainable economic growth of Serbia.

The Government of Serbia and the IMF agreed, in April, a new arrangement, which will not entail financial support, but be of exclusively advisory character and take two and a half years.
