What Are the Outlooks of the Serbian Economy? – Official Talks with IMF Mission Begin

The IMF Mission, led by Donal McGettigan, are on the visit to Belgrade from March 23 through April 4.
– The talks which began today are taking place within the first examination of the results of the standby arrangement that the IMF approved for Serbia on December 19, 2022, and on the occasion of the regular consultations in accordance with Article IV of the IMF Statute – says the website of the NBS.
As added, during the mission, the implementation and the efficiency of the economic policy measures in the conditions of the challenges coming from the international environment, the outlooks of the Serbian economy in the coming period and the realization of the goals of the economic program which is supported by the standby arrangement will be considered. The program aims to preserve macroeconomic and financial stability, boost the resilience of the economy in the conditions of the global energy crisis and incite high, ecological, inclusive and sustainable growth in the medium term.
In addition to that, consultation in accordance with Article IV of the IMF Statute will be carried out, which are done regularly with all member countries within the supervisory function of this international finance institution. The previous consultations with the Republic of Serbia were done in 2021, the NBS says.
The Serbian delegation is led by Jorgovanka Tabakovic, the governor of the NBS and the governor of the Republic of Serbia in the IMF. The finance minister, Sinisa Mali, with his associates, also took part in the talks.
