With a spectacular party that was thrown last night (May 21, 2009) on the second floor of the Belgrade shopping centre "Ušće", the first restaurant from "Vapiano" chain was opened in Serbia. The guests of the restaurant had the opportunity to try delicious Mediterranean specialties - various pastas, pizzas with selected ingredients, various fresh salads, as well as tasty Italian candies.
In addition, the guests also had the opportunity to supervise the food preparation process and to choose sauces and spice herbs they want in their meal.
The name of restaurant "Vapiano" comes from an Italian neologism, which means "The one who goes relaxed through life lives healthier and longer". Italian style of life is reflected in the restaurant's interior.
There is an integral olive tree in the center of "Vapiano" restaurant, and it is a symbol of Mediterranean cuisine. The visual concept of the restaurant was designed by Matteo Thun from Milan. He saw the restaurant as a big stage for small specialties surrounded by walls of marble and natural stone.
The concept of "Vapiano" restaurant was created in Hamburg in 2002 by Kent Hahne, a US citizen of German origin.
After he was fed up with the work in fast food industry, he launched Vapiano concept and sales franchises all around the world.
