Osteria Francescana has been named the world’s best restaurant for the second time. The restaurant is located in the Italian city of Modena.

Chef Massimo Bottura has been named the best chef in the world. His restaurant has taken the title of the world’s best for the second time, after first winning it in 2016.

His cuisine has conquered the world, and the chef has said that local ingredients are crucial, as success comes from expressing emotions through food, which can’t be done without the proximity of local farmers and fishers.

Bottura opened Ostera Francescana in 1995, and the restaurant won the third Michelin star in 2012. In 2016, it became the first Italian winner of the world’s best restaurant award.

Today, it takes over 4 months on a waiting list to get a table, whereas a course, wine included, typically costs around EUR 400 per person.
