The first request submitted via the application for targeted convalidation, i.e. for easier and simpler registration in the real estate cadaster based on old documents, had a positive outcome on January 15, as stated on the official website of the Republic Geodetic Authority.
The request was submitted electronically to the Real Estate Cadaster Service in Rakovica. After a detailed check of the submitted documentation, it was determined that the documents were suitable for registration, of which the party was notified in a timely manner.
– This first positive outcome confirms that the targeted convalidation system functions in practice and that it represents concrete support for citizens in resolving long-standing problems with registration of real estate rights based on old documents. A significant number of submitted requests was already observed in the initial phase, which indicates that citizens have recognized the advantages of this procedure – the RGA states.
The RGA reminds the public that the targeted convalidation began on January 1, 2026 and that there is no deadline for submitting applications. The process is continuous and aimed at enabling the registration of real estate with old documentation, which is of great importance both for citizens and for the state of Serbia.
– The submission of applications is carried out exclusively electronically, via the application available on the website of the Republic Geodetic Authority. The procedure is simple, fast and completely free of charge. Citizens need to click on the yellow icon “targeted convalidation” on the website www.rgz.gov.rs, after which they access the application, register as eCitizens and complete and submit the application in five basic steps – the RGA explains.
One of the most important steps in the procedure is to attach the complete documentation that the citizen has for the real estate in question (scanned or photographed documents). It is on the basis of this documentation that cadastral experts assess whether the documents are suitable for registration. If the outcome is positive, citizens receive a notification and precise instructions for submitting the original documentation, after which the registration in the cadaster will be carried out. In the event of a negative outcome, the party also receives an explanation and guidelines for further steps towards resolving the problem, through court or other means.
– We particularly note the importance of carefully checking the submitted documentation, because during the processing of requests so far, it has been observed that some requests were not approved most often due to: incomplete or incorrectly submitted documentation, the existence of previously unresolved registration cases on the same property, the lack of necessary studies/certificates/expertise, submission of only a power of attorney, as well as in cases where the applicant is a professional user. Therefore, we appeal to citizens to carefully check the documentation before submitting the request – it is emphasized.
Based on the interest so far and clearly defined procedures for processing requests, it was concluded that the possibility of electronic submission of requests has been positively recognized by citizens.
– We expect an increasing number of submitted requests in the coming period. The ultimate goal of this process is for as many citizens as possible to exercise and finally register their property rights to real estate, in a legal, efficient and simple manner – the statement concludes.
