Construction of business and residential facility within Bubanjski Heroji barracks in Nis in the pipeline

The City Council of Nis has decided to advertise the sale of a building land in the location Bubanjski Heroji. Nis Mayor Milos Simonovic said that construction works on that 15-hectare lot within the barracks Bubanjski Heroji represented one of the largest investments in Nis in the last 20 years. He stated that Nis would obtain a business and residential facility in that location, whereas the Army would get 21% of the total living area, that is, over 200 apartments for its members.

This model of cooperation between the Army of Serbia and the City of Nis is a representative example of cooperation between the Ministry of Defense and local self-governments, the mayor of Nis said and added that the works on the 15-hectare lot within the barracks Bubanjski Heroji would finally kick off once the property exchange procedure was finished.

The City of Nis will, once again, confirm an example of good practice in the cooperation with the Serbian government by implementing new projects involving the conversion of military property for civilian purposes, Simonovic said and announced an agreement on the takeover of the Army Center whose space would be completely utilized to equip the congress center.

By the way, the property exchange procedure has finally been finished, after eight years, with the signing of an agreement between the City of Nis and the Ministry of Defense. The City of Nis is the first city in Serbia to complete the property exchange procedure with the Army of Serbia.
