After purchasing licenses for two antimony projects in Serbia last year, near Ivanjica and Paracin, Australian mining corporation Bindi Metals is now making a move on Serbian gold.

The company, which explores for copper and rare metals, has signed a binding agreement with RedCreek doo to take over the high-quality Ravni gold project in Serbia.

Ravni is a settlement near the village of Biljanovac, in the Ibar Valley, Municipality of Raska, and the gold project, which received a license last month, covers 30.5 km² of exploration area.

This is the Kopaonik Metallogenetic Zone, a historic mining district that is home to several world-famous deposits, one of which is Mount Rogozna, 30 kilometers south of Ravni, where another Australian company, Strickland Metals, is actively searching for gold.

The Ravni project has previously been explored by companies including First Quantum Minerals, Tethyan Resources, Euromax and most recently Terra Balcanica, and the exploration has yielded incredible results: at the Ceoviste location, surface rock samples showed up to 64 grams per ton of gold.

Ceoviste, the statement said, is precisely the main “target” of the new licensee. At this location, an induced polarization geophysical survey, which measures the electrical response of the soil to the passage of an electric current, is planned first, and additional field work is planned to confirm the previous results.

The company plans to raise 2.5 million Australian dollars through a share issue.

Under the agreement, Bindi Metals will gradually acquire up to 80% of the Ravni exploration permit - initially 20%, for which it is paying AUD 125,000 in shares and AUD 75,000 in cash, while the agreed balance will be acquired in two subsequent phases, after a total of 10,500 meters of diamond drilling, the Australian Stock Exchange (ASX) said in a statement.

– The strategic acquisition of the Ravni gold project expands our portfolio in Serbia within the highly promising Raska district. The Ravni project offers exceptional exploration potential with impressive high-grade gold at surface and numerous epithermal and porphyry targets. We are excited about the potential to unlock additional value for our shareholders as we progress with the exploration and development of the Ravni project – said Bindi Metals director Eddie King.

The company RedCreek doo Novi Beograd, from which Bindi Metals purchased the project, was founded in January 2022, according to data from the business register, and its owner is Mihajlo Matkovic, a mining expert who was elected one of the directors of the Australian-Serbian Chamber of Commerce last year.

Let us remind that another Australian company, Middle Island Resources, at the end of last month became the owner of as many as 14 licenses for mineral exploration in Serbia, on 62,000 hectares, which is more than any other company has in our country.

The company has already started exploration, and is focusing on the Bobija project, about 100 km southwest of Belgrade, in a former barite mine, from which gold literally “seeps out.” Read more about this in a separate article.
