Cars without drivers will be allowed access to public roads in three British cities starting from January next year, announced the Government in London.
Cities throughout Great Britain have been invited to submit their offer for hosting one of the testings in the period of year and a half up to three years, for which the state will allocate 10 million pounds (12,5 million EUR), stands in the Government's announcement, according to France Press Agency.
Self-conducting car, that moves with the help of sensors and cameras, has already been tested in several countries of the world, like USA and Japan, and soon it will be tested in Sweden.
Representing newest Government plans, British Minister for Business Affairs, Vince Cable, said that British scientists and engineers were actually 'pioneers' of self-conducting cars development.
- Thanks to today's announcement, cars without drivers might be found on our streets in less than 6 months, which will put us in the front line of transforming technologies and it will open new possibilities for our economy and society, said Cable at the headquarters of MIRA in central Britain.
