Jean-Claude Juncker proposed as new president of European Commission

EU leaders have voted to nominate Luxembourg's former prime minister, Jean-Claude Juncker, for the new president of the European Commission, European Council President Herman Van Rompuy tweeted Friday.

- Decision made. The European Council proposes Jean-Claude Juncker as the next President of the European Commission - Van Rompuy wrote on his Tweeter profile.

A total of 26 EU leaders voted in favor of Juncker, while only two (Great Britain and Hungary) were against, the British delegation announced in a release.
