Serbia's MPs have adopted the amendments to the Privatization Law. This move will prolong the life of 164 companies undergoing reorganization for another five months.
Justice Minister Nikola Selakovic has announced that the new Bill on Privatization will be submitted to the National Assembly in a month, month and a half.
During the discussion in the National Assembly, Selakovic pointed to a possibility of using that regulation to assign the responsibility for the accuracy of data about the subject of privatization to the state.
Selakovic added that he did not want to fool anyone that the problem of companies undergoing reorganization can be solved in 150 days, saying: "If I claimed that, I would act irresponsibly towards all those affected by such statement, including myself."
Working group for new Privatization Law to be formed tomorrow
Dragan Stevanovic, the state secretary in the Economy Ministry, says that the preparation of new Privatization Law will start Tuesday, adding that a working group will be formed.
- I assure you that this new regulation will be completed by June and that you will adopt it as early as in the first half of July - Stevanovic told MPs at a session of the Board.
Stevanovic stressed that the ministry would form a special sector to focus on public companies and their reorganization.
