Vienna gets the first vegan ice-cream shop

Ice-cream has its tradition in Vienna. The first ice-cream producers arrived at the emperor's city in 19th century from Italy. Therefore today Vienna has some 100 ice-cream shops, majority of which owned by descendants of the Italian immigrants. As of May this year, Vienna got its first vegan ice-cream shop.

New ice-cream saloon, Veganista, in the 7th Vienna shire, sells exclusively vegan ice-cream. It was opened by two sisters who have been living the vegan life for 20 years.

Also, ice-cream shop Eis-Greissler in the city center offers vegan ice-cream while milk ice-cream is produced solely from organic milk.

Some classic Vienna ice-cream shops also offer vegan ice-cream in their product range and the most famous among them are Summer Samba, Kurt Frozen Yogurt, Foxy Frozen Yogurt, Schoko Company.
