Mutual payments between private companies in Serbia are limited to 60 days, and legal deadlines expire today. Suppliers await with trepidation the payment to be made within the deadline stipulated by law. Besides, nobody knows what will happen with the debts made before the new law came into effect, which now stand at EUR 1.6 billion.
The law that has limited the payment period for the state to 45 days, and the payments within the private sector to 60 days, became effective March 31st. The deadline for the state to settle its debts expired some ten days ago, while the deadline for companies to do that expires today.
