Hindoos to buy Hypo bank?

According to Austrian Die Presse, Indian Srei Infrastructure Finance Ltd. has a good chance to purchase Austrian branch office of Hypo Alpe-Adria bank.

The spokesman of Srei, Braj Kishore neglected for Bloomberg an interest for acquisition but he was not precise whether any company within concern is after all a potential candidate for the new Hypo owner.

Austrian acquisition would bring to the Indian financial group a banking licence and simpler breakthrough to the European market. Srei is one of the pioneers in infrastructure financing in India and apart from that it funds energy projects, telecommunications and traffic. In the mid last year, it was managing USD 3.5 billion.

In India, it has a network of 85 branch offices servicing more than 3.000 clients. Openings of two branch offices in Russia and Germany, the company started an international expansion.
