Step by step toward first subway line – Location conditions issued for construction and relocation of gas pipeline installations at Makisko Polje

The Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure has issued location conditions to the Belgrade branch of the Power Construction Corporation of China Limited for the construction and relocation of gas pipeline installations within the Belgrade Subway site, specifically, for the first phase of the future first line at Makisko Polje.

The cadastral plots are located in the Makisko Polje area, where portions of the subway system and its supporting infrastructure are planned. In this section, the route passes through the area designated for a subway depot and land intended for transport-related functions. It includes two planned stations - Zeleznik and Makis. Adjacent to the Makis station, a terminal station for the planned BG Voz line is also envisioned. The segment of the route stretching from the Makis station to the Bele Vode station is planned to be constructed using the "cut-and-cover" method, spanning a length of approximately 2.15 km.

The subway system corridor encompasses sections of the existing gas pipeline network, which intersects with the planned metro route corridors at several points. As further project and planning documentation is developed, these sections of the gas pipeline network will require additional protection, or, where necessary, relocation. Furthermore, the planning of new sections of the gas pipeline system may also be required.

– During the construction of the subway via open-cut excavation, all existing elements of the gas pipeline network must be protected or relocated to positions that ensure an uninterrupted supply of natural gas to consumers. Where the spatial constraints of public areas allow, gas pipelines should be planned outside the designated metro routes – the location conditions state.

The reconstruction and laying of new gas pipelines, to be completed prior to the finalization of the subway construction, must be carried out along routes and in a manner that minimizes any impact on the open-cut excavation process, it is added.

– Sections of the gas pipeline network running parallel to the subway route must not be positioned above the tunnel construction corridor and must maintain a minimum distance of 4 meters from the outer edge of the tunnel structure – the location conditions specify.

Regarding specific future subway facilities in this zone, it is noted that the existing steel distribution gas pipeline MOP 16 bar runs partially through the site designated for the construction of the Bele Vode subway station. Consequently, this steel distribution pipeline must be relocated within the area of the subway station. For the Makis depot complex, a new steel distribution gas pipeline, MOP 16 bar, must be constructed, and a portion of the existing distribution pipeline will be taken out of service (decommissioned) once the new steel distribution pipeline is built.
