Branded with distinctive Expo 2027 motifs, the first two of nine total passenger trainsets will arrive in Serbia as early as November, and they will transport passengers from the city center, via New Belgrade, Zemun, and the Airport, to the National Stadium station.

Rail infrastructure will play a significant role in the organization of the event and in passenger transport during the specialized Expo 2027 exhibition. Nine new Chinese-made trainsets, which have already undergone technical handover in China, will operate on the new 18.1-kilometer rail line currently under construction from Zemun Polje to the National Stadium.

– We want to provide our visitors with comfortable, fast, and reliable transport so they can maximize the time spent visiting pavilions, enjoying sports and music, or attending the meetings that brought them here. Technical reliability is crucial to making this possible. While the international experience of our hosts is certainly important, we also value our friends from Serbia for their expertise, their work on technical documentation, and their understanding of passenger needs – says Milos Zivanovic, Manager of the Transport and Mobility Department within the Operations Sector at Ekspo 2027 Beograd d.o.o.

The procurement of these new trainsets marks a continuation of the successful partnership between Srbijavoz and the Chinese manufacturer.

– The first project already underway involves high-speed trains capable of 200 km/h. They are already operating between Belgrade and Subotica, and starting in December, they will carry passengers from Belgrade to Budapest, a highly successful initiative. With these, we are launching a new generation of trains for urban and suburban rail services. Following the specialized Expo 2027 exhibition, they will continue to operate within the BG Voz network – says Zoran Puzovic, Executive Director for Operations and Commercial Affairs at Srbijavoz.

– It is crucial to emphasize that even after Expo, these trains will remain at the service of the public. They will operate within the BG Voz system, transporting passengers daily to the airport or work, as well as to concerts, matches, or trade fairs. That is precisely what we mean when we speak of the Expo legacy, ensuring that what we are preparing today for a major international event becomes part of a better everyday life after the Expo concludes, notes Zivanovic.

The new electric trainsets are 63.2 meters long, have a capacity of up to 380 passengers, and reach speeds of up to 120 kilometers per hour.
