The City of Belgrade has announced a public procurement tender for the reconstruction of the Autokomanda interchange, specifically the Bokeljska interchange and surrounding roads, with an estimated value of 1.485 billion dinars. In addition to construction work, the project encompasses the preparation of technical documentation and technical review of the design.

According to the technical specifications, the reconstruction covers the area of the Bokeljska interchange and sections of Juzni Boulevard, Ustanicka Street, Nebojsina Street, Bokeljska Street and Oslobodjenja Boulevard, as well as the connection between this zone and Stefana Prvovencanog Street. Existing intersections are to be replaced with multi-lane roundabouts.

A key feature of the project will be the construction of a dedicated right-turn lane, or bypass, enabling a direct connection from Oslobodjenja Boulevard to Stefana Prvovencanog Street in the direction of New Belgrade. The planned surface area for this roadway is approximately 1,100 m2.

Plans also include the reconstruction and widening of the existing overpass connecting Oslobodjenja Boulevard to the Bokeljska interchange, spanning over Stefana Prvovencanog Street. The roadway is set to be expanded from two to three lanes, though the final design will depend on an assessment of the existing structure’s condition.

A new roundabout covering an area of approximately 5,200 m2 is planned for a section of Oslobodjenja Boulevard, replacing the existing intersection. Simultaneously, the entry ramp leading to Stefana Prvovencanog Street is slated for reconstruction to increase traffic capacity and create a longer public transport boarding area.

A second major project involves the intersection of Ustanicka Street, Juzni Boulevard, Oslobodjenja Boulevard, Bokeljska Street and Nebojsina Street. A new roundabout covering about 14,450 m2 is planned here, alongside the reconstruction of all pedestrian walkways and an extension of the existing pedestrian underpass. Unlike what was the case over the past 55 years, the construction of this roundabout will enable vehicles to turn from Ustanicka Street onto the highway towards New Belgrade.

The existing pedestrian underpass is approximately 90 meters long and features three entry-exit portals. Due to the expansion of traffic areas and the creation of the roundabout, plans call for relocating the existing portals and extending the passageway by a total of about 80 meters.

The reconstruction will also encompass supporting infrastructure: including water supply and sewage networks, public lighting, traffic signage and green spaces, as well as the protection or relocation of utility lines affected by the construction work. Furthermore, the planned traffic solutions are to be validated through appropriate studies and traffic simulations.

The documentation is divided into two sections. The first covers the reconstruction of a section of Oslobodjenja Boulevard, including a new roundabout and the reconstruction of the overpass above the highway. The second covers a section of Juzni Boulevard with a new roundabout, connections to Bokeljska, Nebojsina, and Ustanicka streets, the reconstruction and expansion of the pedestrian underpass, a new bypass road, an additional lane on the existing bridge structure, and the reconstruction of the highway entry ramp.

The scope of work also includes the preparation of the urban planning project, land subdivision plans, and geodetic surveys, geotechnical investigations, the design for the building permit and the detailed construction design, supporting technical reports and a technical review of the documentation prior to the commencement of works.

The procurement is being conducted by the Belgrade Land Development Public Agency, and the deadline for submitting applications is November 5. Further details (in Serbian) are available HERE.
