More foreign tourists visit Serbia this August than last

A total of 536,573 tourists were registered in Serbia this August, an increase of 7.9% compared to the same month last year, along with approximately 1.6 million overnight stays, representing a 7.3% increase, the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia announced.

The number of foreign guests (300,879) was 7.3% higher than in August of the previous year, while the number of domestic tourists stood at 235,694, an increase of 8.6%.

Domestic tourists accounted for a total of 851,264 overnight stays in August, five percent more than during the same period the previous year, while overnight stays by foreign tourists (731,225) rose by 10.1%.

The most visited spa resorts were Vrnjacka Banja, Sokobanja, Banja Vrdnik, Banja Palic and Bukovicka Banja, while the most popular mountain destinations were Zlatibor, Kopaonik, Fruska Gora, Divcibare and Tara.

The highest number of foreign tourists came from Russia, Turkey, and Germany, the Statistical Office reported.
