Serbia’s foreign trade volume up 6.4% – Exports in first 8 months of 2026 exceed imports

Serbia’s foreign trade in goods for the period of January–August of this year totaled EUR 52.5 billion, representing a 6.4% increase compared to the same period last year, the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia announced today.

Goods worth EUR 23.7 billion were exported, an increase of 8.8%, while imports rose by 4.6% to EUR 28.8 billion.

The trade deficit stood at EUR 5.1 billion, down 11.3% compared to the same period last year.

The export-import coverage ratio was 82.3%, higher than the 79.1% recorded during the same period last year.

Foreign trade volume was highest with countries with which Serbia has signed free trade agreements.

European Union member states account for 58.3% of total trade.

CEFTA countries are Serbia’s second most important trading partners. Trade with this bloc resulted in a surplus of approximately EUR 2.2 million, driven primarily by exports of cereals and cereal products, beverages, road vehicles, medical and pharmaceutical products, and electrical machinery and appliances.

Exports to these countries totaled EUR 3.2 million, while imports amounted to approximately EUR 1 million.
