BENU acquires Stesa-lek – Eight pharmacies join Serbia's largest pharmacy chain

BENU Pharmacy, operating within the international PHOENIX Group, has acquired a 100% stake in the company Stesa-lek, bringing eight of the chain’s pharmacies in Kikinda, Mokrin, and Belgrade into the BENU network.

According to a statement from BENU, the new pharmacies joined the network on September 1. The company was advised on the transaction by the law firm Moravcevic, Vojnovic and Partners in cooperation with Schoenherr, while the sellers were advised by Ettore Law.

BENU stated that this acquisition allowed it to continue expanding its network by taking over established pharmacies and expert teams. According to the company, Stesa-lek has a nearly 20-year history, and its pharmacies operate in local communities where they have built patient trust.

– With the acquisition of the Stesa-lek pharmacy chain, BENU Pharmacy continues to grow through carefully selected acquisitions of high-quality pharmacies and expert teams – said Miodrag Milic, BENU's Acquisitions Director, as reported by PHOENIX Group Serbia.

BENU added that it viewed the acquisition as an expansion of its professional team as well, since Stesa-lek employees continued working within the BENU system.

BENU has been operating in Serbia since 2014 and is part of the German PHOENIX Group. According to company data, BENU now has over 450 pharmacies in Serbia, with current figures on the BENU website listing a total of 455 pharmacies.

The PHOENIX Group is a major European player in the pharmaceutical sector, operating more than 3,200 of its own pharmacies across 15 European countries under the BENU brand.

Financial details of the transaction, including the value of the Stesa-lek acquisition, have not been disclosed.
