Strabag wins EUR 45.1 million contract to build wastewater collection and treatment system in Cacak

The Austrian company Strabag AG has been selected as the contractor for the EUR 45.13 million project to build a wastewater collection and treatment system in Cacak.

The contract was signed on August 13, 2026, while the decision to select the contractor was made on May 25. The procedure was carried out by the Serbian Ministry of Finance, namely the Sector for Contracting and Financing of EU Funds (CFCU).

The project is financed under the EU Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA III) for the period 2021–2027, and the works are expected to last 1,099 days, or about three years.

The tender includes four project components. The first involves the design and construction of the Prelici wastewater treatment plant (WWTP), together with the access road.

The second part includes the design and rehabilitation of the Ljubic Polje, Beljina and Kosutnjak pumping stations, as well as the construction of an access road to the Ljubic Polje pumping station.

The third part refers to the CCTV inspection, design and rehabilitation of the sewage network, while the fourth part envisages the procurement of equipment for cleaning and testing sewage.

According to the contract, the contractor is responsible for the design and execution of all works, as well as for the commissioning of the system, testing and handover of the completed facilities.

Eight bids were received for the tender, of which five were from bidders registered in other countries of the European Economic Area, and three from bidders outside the EEA.

Strabag will engage subcontractors for the implementation of the project, and the known value of the subcontracted works amounts to EUR 18.05 million, or 40% of the contract value.

The procurement was carried out through an open procedure, and the only criterion for selecting the bid was price.
