The change of the owner of the land is one of the important steps towards the implementation of this project, which is expected to significantly change the technological and economic situation in Nis, he said.
– The state has invested close to EUR 50 million in the city by deciding to build the Data Center in Nis. When the center is completed and starts operating, we can expect the IT field in the city to expand and a better position of Nis on the map of southeastern Serbia, and even this part of Europe – said Blagojevic.
The data center will not only be used for storing and processing data, but its infrastructure will also be important for the development of artificial intelligence, digital technologies and companies that use large computing capacities.
The construction of the center, as indicated, should also contribute to the arrival of new companies, job creation and the creation of additional opportunities for young and highly educated people.
As announced, the thermal energy that will be produced by the future Data Center in Nis could be used to heat between 5,000 and 8,000 apartments.
As Blagojevic explained, there are already initial agreements to connect the heat generated by the Data Center to a new heating station and include it in the district heating system.
This plan, as stated, is still in its initial phase, which is why the final number of apartments and the method of connection will depend on future technical solutions, the construction of the necessary infrastructure and connection to the district heating system.
