Milan Milojevic, who has been proposed as the acting director of the Urban Planning Institute, told Nis TV that the plan covered the stretch from the confluence of the Nisava River into the South Morava to Prosek.
According to him, the idea is to develop various facilities intended for recreation and leisure of citizens along the river.
The plan is to develop pedestrian and other trails, install street furniture for children, open gyms, as well as spaces such as amphitheaters. The goal, as he explained, is to change the city’s current relationship with the Nisava River and enable citizens to spend significantly more time along the river.
Milojevic assessed that, at that moment, Nis did not have the same relationship with the river as some other cities and said that this should change.
He expressed the expectation that, a few years from then, the paths and spaces along the Nisava River could be completely renovated.
The planning of the coastal belt is part of a broader concept for the development of Nis, in which the river should play a much more significant role in the everyday life of the city.
