Djedovic Handanovic: NIS situation bigger problem than low water levels

Minister of Mining and Energy Dubravka Djedovic Handanovic assessed that finding a solution for Naftna industrija Srbije (NIS) was more important than drought and low water levels in rivers, since the Refinery lived “from month to month, from license to license.”

In an interview with the Vecernje Novosti daily, she said that a permanent solution to the situation with NIS was necessary in order to make the energy system more stable and so that the Refinery could procure crude oil.

– The problems with the water level will pass, but it is important that in the coming weeks we responsibly manage our electricity system and responsibly and rationally manage oil product reserves – said Djedovic Handanovic.

According to her, the state will do everything to preserve security of supply so that citizens do not feel any consequences and to prevent a sudden increase in energy prices.
