The Serbian Railways Infrastructure company has announced an international tender for the selection of contractors for the modernization of the Paracin-Trupale-Medjurovo section, as part of the Belgrade-Nis railroad modernization project. The contract is based on the “design and build” principle, financed with the support of the European Investment Bank (EIB) and the WBIF grant program.

The tender includes three subsections of the third section of the project: Paracin-Stalac, Djunis-Trupale and Trupale-Medjurovo, while the Stalac-Djunis subsection has already been contracted.

The total length of the railroad covered by the tender is approximately 65.2 kilometers, of which the Paracin-Stalac section is 20.8 kilometers long, the Djunis-Trupale section is 37.7 kilometers long, and the Trupale-Medjurovo section is 6.7 kilometers long.

A total of ten rail stations are planned to be reconstructed and modernized in order to meet the needs of passenger and freight traffic. The designed speed on the Paracin-Stalac and Djunis-Trupale sections is 200 km/h.

On the Trupale-Medjurovo section, the reconstruction of the existing rail line, the construction of passenger platforms and underpasses at the Nis Ranzirna Station (Nis Marshalling Yard) are planned. The works will also include the reconstruction and construction of the contact network, power plants, transformer stations, remote control systems for electric traction, signaling and safety devices, as well as lighting of grade-separated intersections and access roads.

The expected duration of the contract is 48 months.

The procedure is conducted as a competitive procedure with negotiations in accordance with the rules of the European Investment Bank. Between four and six candidates will be invited to the second phase, and the contracting authority reserves the right to award the contract on the basis of the initial bids, without further negotiations.

The deadline for submitting applications for participation is October 2, 2026. For more details, see HERE.
