The projected appearance of the new International School of Belgrade facility in 2018
– The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding for the construction of a new campus of the International School of Belgrade, between the Government of Serbia and the International School of Belgrade, is one of the steps to strengthen cooperation and ties between Serbia and the USA. With this act, we confirm our readiness to concretize cooperation in the field of education. Given the positive experience of our cooperation so far, I am confident that the International School of Belgrade, as a reference educational institution, will continue to contribute to the advancement of knowledge and represent another bridge connecting our two countries – said the minister.
On this occasion, U.S. Embassy Charge d’Affaires Aleksandar Titolo said that he was proud of the U.S. Embassy’s contribution to reaching an agreement between the Government of Serbia and the International School of Belgrade on the construction of a new campus that, according to him, will provide future generations with even better educational conditions and prepare them for the challenges of the future.
– This agreement is another example of a new era in U.S.-Serbia relations – an era in which we are taking concrete steps towards shared goals and a more prosperous future – said the Charge d’Affaires.
International School of Belgrade Director Sherry Marshall said that for the first time since the school’s founding in 1948, the International School of Belgrade would receive a purpose-built campus that would match the quality of its educational programs and further contribute to their advancement.
– The collaboration between the Government of Serbia and the U.S. Embassy that made this dream a reality will benefit future generations of ISB students in the long term. On behalf of our students and their families from more than 40 countries around the world, I express my sincere gratitude for the realization of this project – she said.
The new campus, as stated, will bring together students of all ages in one location and provide a modern learning environment that will meet the needs of current and future generations of students.
The campus will include modern facilities for teaching, science, technology, art and sports, improved security infrastructure, spaces intended for collaborative learning, as well as sustainably designed buildings and landscaped areas in accordance with the principles of environmental protection.
As eKapija reported, the International School of Belgrade (ISB) and Avala Studios signed a Declaration of Intent in 2018 regarding the construction of a new campus and facilities within ISB. At that time, the new campus was planned to be located next to Avala Studios in Kosutnjak, with a capacity of 550 to 600 students.

– A total of 18,000 square meters of interior space will include a cafeteria with a capacity of 300 people, a theater for 280 visitors, two indoor sports halls, a spacious library and common areas, as well as an outdoor soccer field. The average classroom will be 90 square meters – ISB told eKapija in 2018.
ISB is an international educational community founded in 1948 and is one of the oldest international schools in Central and Eastern Europe. The school is attended by students from almost 50 countries, and it is also the only non-profit school in Serbia that offers the full International Baccalaureate program.
