The Ministry of Education of Serbia has paid the first installment of funds to self-financing students to cover 50% of paid tuition in the academic year 2025/2026, based on data received from 106 higher education institutions.

As the ministry announced, 34,231 students received a refund of part of their tuition, and more than one billion dinars were allocated for this purpose.

The payment was also made to 117 self-financing students who were entitled to a refund for the academic year 2024/2025, and who submitted their Student Card application after the last payment in the previous cycle.

The ministry states that it has extended the deadlines for higher education institutions to submit and correct data on self-financing students and paid tuition fees several times, but that nine institutions did not submit the data or did not submit it in the correct form.

Students of these institutions will therefore be refunded with the second installment in October 2026, after the data has been harmonized in cooperation with higher education institutions.

The ministry reminds that students of higher education institutions founded by the Republic of Serbia do not submit a separate request to exercise this right, but that those who do not have a Student Card or have closed an account associated with it in the meantime should apply via the Treasury Administration portal.

The statement says that the data on paid tuition fees were not submitted or were not submitted in the correct form by the Military Academy, the Faculty of Medicine of the Military Medical Academy, the Faculty of Law in Kragujevac, the faculties of medicine and pedagogy in Novi Sad, the Faculty of Agriculture in Nis, the Faculty of Sports and Physical Education with a temporary seat in Leposavic, and the Technical College of Vocational Studies in Subotica.
