Zijin Copper: 17 tons of gold delivered to NBS in seven and a half years

The company Zijin Copper Serbia has announced that, in seven and a half years, it has delivered 17 tons of gold to the National Bank of Serbia (NBS), as stated, as much gold as the total gold reserves of the state amounted to 10 years ago.

– From 2019 to the middle of this year, Serbia Zijin Copper, without changing the gold placement model that existed before the takeover of the Mining and Smelting Basin (RTB) Bor, sold 17,005 kilograms of gold, or 1,356 gold bars, to the NBS – the statement says.

It is emphasized that operations continued according to the same principle that the former RTB applied, so that each produced quantity of gold is first offered to the NBS, which has the right of first refusal.

They remind that the legal obligation to first offer all produced quantities of gold to the NBS has existed for years and has not been changed by the change in the company’s ownership structure.

In practice, as stated, the NBS buys the offered gold, which remains in Serbia as part of the national gold reserves.

– Only if the NBS does not exercise its right of first refusal, which has never happened before, could the gold be sold to other buyers. In the first half of 2026, Serbia Zijin Copper delivered 164 gold bars weighing 2,057 kilograms to the NBS – the company said in a statement.
