Fuel excise taxes will be reduced on Monday, the Ministry of Finance confirmed to Radio-Television Serbia.

The reason for this move is, as indicated, an attempt to maintain price stability, curb inflation and protect citizens’ standards, the ministry said.

After a month of stagnation, the price of a barrel on world oil exchanges is rising again, and end-use derivatives are also becoming more expensive.

The US has carried out new air strikes on Iran, and Tehran has responded by targeting Bahrain, Kuwait and Qatar, further escalating the conflict that has once again called into question the interim agreement intended to end the war in the Persian Gulf.

The attacks came hours after US President Donald Trump said that recent Iranian attacks on ships in the Strait of Hormuz marked the end of a fragile ceasefire reached by a memorandum of understanding that also included the suspension of further mutual sanctions in order to open the door to peace talks.
