Smederevska Palanka will be one of ten strategic points on the route of the future Belgrade-Nis high-speed railroad, and the project plans to build a new rail station outside the city center.

As stated after a working meeting held at the premises of Serbian Railways, the existing rail station will be relocated from the city center, while a modern rail complex will be built at the new location, writes the Palanka Danas portal.

According to the announcements, the new station will have eight tracks, which will enable fast passenger, freight and regular rail traffic.

The Belgrade-Nis high-speed railroad, approximately 230 kilometers long, will be built in three sections, and Smederevska Palanka is located on the Belgrade-Velika Plana section.
