The meeting was attended by Jagoda Lazarevic, Minister of Domestic and Foreign Trade, Marko Cadez, President of the CCIS, and Serbian Ambassador to China Maja Stefanovic. The Serbian delegation is on an official visit to China on the occasion of the appearance of the Serbian economy at the Fourth China International Supply Chain Expo (CISCE), which is being held from June 22 to 26, and at which Serbia is represented this year at the national pavilion within the AI zone, with 11 companies and institutions and a total of 23 representatives.
The meeting discussed the possibilities of strengthening cooperation and the inclusion of a larger number of Serbian companies in Walmart’s global supply chains. Minister Lazarevic emphasized that Serbia had a significant competitive advantage thanks to the network of free trade agreements (FTAs), which provided preferential access to numerous markets and made Serbia an attractive destination for production, distribution and export.
Marko Cadez, President of the CCIS, pointed to the growing capacities of the Serbian economy and the readiness of domestic companies to respond to the high standards of global retail chains.
The meeting concluded that there was a strong match between premium products from Serbia, especially wine, and the range that Walmart China was developing for its customers. Special attention was paid to the possibilities of cooperation with the Sam’s Club brand, which is the largest retail chain for premium imported wines in China, as well as an important channel for the sale of high-quality food products intended for a more demanding consumer segment. This opens up significant opportunities for the positioning of Serbian premium brands on the Chinese market.
The meeting represents an important step towards improving economic relations and opening up new opportunities for the sale of Serbian products on international markets through cooperation with one of the world’s largest retail companies.
The Serbian delegation will attend the opening ceremony of the Fourth China International Supply Chain Expo today and visit the national pavilion, after which it will have a series of meetings with representatives of Hainan and Shandong provinces and Chinese companies.
