The start of the new project was announced during a tour of the construction of the wastewater treatment plant in the Ratari settlement. As it was emphasized, the future central plant will represent an important step in improving the municipal infrastructure and environmental protection in Obrenovac.
At the same time, work is being completed on the plant in Ratari, which, together with the planned sewage network and five fecal pumping stations, will solve the needs of the Ratari and Brgulice settlements for about 1,000 population equivalents.
The Director of the Public Utility Company Vodovod i kanalizacija Obrenovac, Branko Matic, said that the rough construction works had been completed on time and that now the final works, installation of equipment and construction of pumping stations, were to follow.
– We promised that the rough construction works would be finished by June, which has been fulfilled. We expect that the remaining works will be completed by the end of the year, that is, that the entire system will be put into operation during this year – said Matic.
According to the representative of the contractor, Ivana Jezdic, the project in Ratari is in the final phase, after which testing and commissioning of the plant will follow.
Obrenovac is one of 16 municipalities included in the Clean Serbia project, which is being implemented by the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure in cooperation with the Chinese company CRBC.
This project envisages the construction of two wastewater treatment plants, as well as new kilometers of sewage network. The smaller plant is being built in the local community of Ratari.
The large plant will be built in the local community of Mislodjin, covering the territory of Obrenovac and the local communities of Zvecka, Urovci, Krtinska, Belo Polje, Baric and Mislodjin.
The announced central plant with a capacity of 50,000 population equivalents should represent the largest investment in the field of wastewater treatment in the municipality, with the aim of long-term improvement of the wastewater management system and protection of local waterways.
