Serbian wines heading to China, first contingent from Atelje vina Sapat

A contingent of 5,500 liters of Atelje vina Sapat wine is heading to China, as a result of business agreements reached during the recent visit of a Serbian business delegation to this country. Atelje vina Sapat is the first winery to sign a contract for the distribution of larger quantities. Until now, Sapat wines have been available in a small number of exclusive restaurants in China, and now they will be significantly more represented on the market with more than a billion potential buyers, the statement says.

Sapat wines have been loaded into the distribution center in Dobanovci, cleared customs and are ready for transport.

– This is not only a success for our winery, but for the entire Serbian wine industry, as it represents the beginning of a serious marketing of Serbian wines to Chinese consumers – said Mladen Ciric, the director of Atelje vina Sapat.

Ciric reminded of the Free Trade Agreement between Serbia and China, signed in 2024, which also includes the gradual abolition of customs duties, so that from 2028 Serbian wines will be able to be exported to this country completely free of customs duties.

– We believe that this is the beginning of a great journey - not only for our winery, but for Serbian winemaking as a whole. The state has opened its doors to us, and it is up to us producers to offer quality and we are still working hard to increase production capacities, because the large Chinese market needs to ensure a continuous supply of large quantities of wine. We are proud that we will represent Serbia in China with our products, and hopefully in the best light – concluded Ciric, the director of Atelje vina Sapat.

The shipment of the Sapat wine contingent was also attended by Milan Nastic, a distributor of Serbian wines to the Chinese market. According to him, after this first quantity, new deliveries from Serbian wineries will follow.

– A rail transport line was recently established between Serbia and the province of Hebei, in the north of the People’s Republic of China, which makes the transport of goods much more efficient, faster and cheaper than previous channels. Sapat wines will arrive at the distribution center in Hebei in a maximum of 23 days – emphasized Nastic.
