Serbian Raspberry Producers Association: Expected yield up to 15,000 tons, record was 100,000 tons

The President of the Serbian Raspberry Producers Association, Dobrivoje Radovic, said today that the current estimate is that this year the total raspberry yield in the country will amount to 15,000 tons, which is several times less than in 2018 when the yield was over 100,000 tons.

– If there are no adverse weather conditions, the total yield in Serbia, according to the current state of raspberries, could be up to 15,000 tons and that will be a good yield, considering that last year’s drought damaged the young shoots – Radovic told Beta.

According to him, the raspberry harvest should begin in the lowlands in 15-20 days, and in the mountains in about a month.

Radovic said that the purchase price will be determined by supply and demand, and that the supply on the world market will be lower this year because the frost in Poland also destroyed some of the plantations.

– We expect the initial, advance purchase price to be 550 dinars per kilogram, and that the final price will be calculated when the raspberries are exported, but we hope that it will be higher than the initial price – said Radovic.

He added that last year the advance purchase price was 450 dinars, and in the final calculation from 600 to 620 dinars per kilogram. He pointed out that raspberries in Serbia are planted, according to the register of the structure of agricultural crops, on 24,000 hectares, and that they are actually planted on 10,000-11,000 hectares because it has been recorded that raspberries have been planted in many meadows for various reasons, including due to some subsidies.

He said that very small areas, about two percent of the plantations, are irrigated because in the mountainous area, where most raspberries grow, this is impossible due to lack of water, and it is not possible to water them with a drip system because the water would run down the hill.

The president of the Federation of Serbian Raspberry Associations, Milutin Zivkovic, estimated that out of the 50 acres on which raspberries are grown, a good harvest will only be on 20 acres this year, that it is mediocre on one part, and there is nothing on the rest because the seedlings were damaged by frost last year, and that all plantations in Serbia have not been properly maintained, also because of the years when the price was below production costs.

– I reduced the area under raspberries from 90 acres to 50 acres because the price is good one year and bad the next, and I can no longer argue with buyers – said Zivkovic from the Nova Varos area.

He added that the harvest of other producers is the same as his, only partly good if there are no weather problems before the picking.

According to data from the Republic Statistical Office (RSO), Serbia produced 82,577 tons of raspberries in 2025, which is 35 percent less than in the record year 2018, when 127,010 tons were produced.
