The Pancevo Refinery has a very important strategic role in ensuring stable and uninterrupted energy supply. MOL’s goal is to further strengthen the security of supply in Serbia and the region, while simultaneously exploiting synergies between the refineries. If the transaction is successfully completed, we plan to manage the facility in the long term, MOL told Forbes Serbia.

MOL says that “negotiations are continuing in accordance with the previously signed basic agreement.”

They also add that the negotiations are in line with the sanction regulations of the United States and the EU.

– The completion of the transaction, among other things, requires the consent of OFAC, as well as the competent authorities of the Republic of Serbia – MOL tells Forbes Serbia.

That the negotiations have not been concluded, that is, that it is not yet certain that MOL is the sure buyer of the majority stake in NIS, which is still in the hands of Russian companies, is clear from their response “if the transaction is successfully realized.”
