The construction of the Northern Bypass around Kragujevac is in full swing, and the 22-kilometer-long expressway will be designed for speeds of up to 100 kilometers per hour, announced the PE Roads of Serbia.

The bypass will have five interchanges and 24 structures, of which 14 are bridges, five overpasses and five underpasses. The construction is divided into three phases.

Over 90% of the works have been completed within Phase 1, while the final development of the road belt, the installation of traffic signals and road equipment, as well as works on asphalt layers in the 400 kV transmission line zone remain to be done.

In Phase 2, work has been intensified on the construction of piers and bearing beams on Bridge 2. A total of 13 bridges are planned to be built in Phases 2 and 3, and pile driving has already been completed on 11 bridges, while the construction of piers, prefabricated supports and other remaining works are in progress. The plan is to complete seven of the 13 bridges by the end of the year, as well as to connect the Petrovac interchange with the Gornji Milanovac interchange.

Earthworks are currently being carried out on Phase 3, which are being done in line with the weather conditions.
