Vucic with EDF President: We are analyzing key aspects of the possible development of nuclear energy

Serbia is carefully analyzing all key aspects of the possible development of a peacetime nuclear energy program, from professional staff and participation of the domestic economy, to the impact on the transmission network, selection of locations and open information to the public, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said after a meeting with the President and CEO of Electricite de France (EDF), Bernard Fontana.

As he emphasized after the meeting on his Instagram account, this is a long, responsible and thorough process, which is being carried out according to the highest international standards and with the support of experienced partners.

– In the face of increasingly pronounced challenges on the global energy market, we discussed concrete steps for further development of cooperation, as well as the importance of such projects for economic stability, security of supply and a better quality of life for citizens – Vucic said in an Instagram post.

– The essence of these plans is not only that Serbia has enough energy today, but that it builds capacities in a timely manner that will ensure a safe, stable and predictable energy future in the decades to come – Vucic pointed out.

As he added, cooperation with EDF, one of the world’s leading players in the field of nuclear energy, is an important step for Serbia towards providing stable, clean and long-term sustainable electricity, but also an opportunity to develop domestic knowledge and strengthen the industry.
