Third International Hydrogen Conference on March 17 and 18 in Belgrade

The Third Belgrade Green Hydrogen Conference will be held on March 17 and 18 at the Hyatt Regency hotel and will gather key energy transition stakeholders from 24 countries, reports the association OIE Serbia, which is the institutional supporter of the conference.

One of the key segments of the conference will be a panel of regional electric utility directors, bringing together at the same table the respective managements of Elektroprivreda Srbije (Serbia), Elektroprivreda Republike Srpske (Republic of Srpska), Elektroprivreda Bosne i Hercegovine (Bosnia-Herzegovina), Elektroprivreda Crne Gore (Montenegro) and ESM from North Macedonia.

The focus of the discussion will be the stability of power systems under conditions of accelerated integration of renewable energy sources, as well as the role of hydrogen in ensuring grid flexibility and the region’s energy security – topics that have direct geopolitical significance in the context of European energy independence.

The conference is being organized with the participation of Hydrogen Europe, as well as the Hungarian hydrogen valley and the Hungarian Chamber of Commerce, further strengthening the European dimension of the event. The combination of the EU regulatory framework, investment funds and development banks, technology companies and regional electric utilities gives the conference a strategic dimension that goes beyond a local character.

Among the participants are representatives of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the German development bank KfW, while international experts will speak about investment models, project bankability and the competitiveness of green hydrogen (LCOH).

Topics such as the CBAM mechanism, industrial export competitiveness, management of energy surpluses and infrastructure development indicate that the region is on the verge of transitioning from the strategy phase to the implementation phase. Domestic partners participating include companies such as Elixir Group, Moravacem, Titan Cement, Energotehnika Juzna Backa, Energoprojekt, Go2Power, Gosa Montaza, MT KOMEX, New Energy Solutions and many others.

The event is being organized with the institutional support of the German-Serbian Chamber of Commerce, the British-Serbian Chamber of Commerce, the Serbian Chamber of Commerce and the Hungarian Chamber of Commerce, further confirming the international and diplomatic importance of the gathering.

The conference will be opened by the ambassadors of Germany, Denmark and the United Kingdom, symbolically confirming that hydrogen is no longer just a technological issue – but also a strategic issue of energy security, industrial competitiveness and geopolitical positioning.
